Islamabad police has awarded 35 cops as an acknowledgement of their meritorious services to improve the department's efficiency. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG-Security), Dr Mujeeb-ur-Rehman rewarded the cops for working hard and remaining determined to their duties, said Naeem Iqbal, spokesman of Islamabad Police, here on Thursday.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Mujeeb said accountability system helps improve performance of any department and with help of it, working of the staff can be easily judged. He informed that an accountability campaign has been aggressively launched in addition to substantial increase in emoluments of the personnel, as they are expected to keep away from corrupt practices and become responsible towards their profession.
Islamabad Police has started an accountability system to monitor performance of police officials and awarded punishment for dereliction of duties, negligence, poor investigation, absence and involvement in corruption.
Reiterating the commitment to root out menace of corruption and make capital cops more responsible towards their basic duties, DIG Security said that only those following the policy of zero tolerance would survive and no sluggishness would be tolerated in this regard. He said the masses are joining the force eagerly, adding that the purpose of rewarding cops is to encourage them so that they can perform their duties with more dedication and win confidence of masses.
Those who received awards included Inspector Ghulam Rasool, Sub-Inspectors Akhtar Nawaz, Muhammad Saqlain, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Shaukat Ali, Muhammad Asghar, Muhammad Sarwar, Khizer Hyat, Head Constables Shabbir Ahmed, Rasif Hyat, Muhammad Yunus, Shafqat Hussain and others.
