The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested six officials including the former Director General Haj Rao Shakeel and the former Chairman Trading Corporation of Pakistan on charges of corruption, Aaj News reported on Saturday. According to the channel, action against former DG Haj was recommended by the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Haj.
The FIA said that Rao Shakeel rented out cheap residences to Hajis in Makkah and Medina on inflated rates and allegedly misappropriated funds worth millions of rupees. On the other hand, the FIA also arrested five officials of TCP including the former Chairman Abdul Malik on importing below standard wheat worth billions of rupees. In the same case, the FIA also arrested Director TCP Adil Mokhar from Lahore.
