Rates moved both ways on the currency market on Monday ahead of Eid-ul-Azha holiday, dealers said. The rupee inched up with nominal gain of two paisa at 85.45 against dollar for buying and rose by three paisa for selling at 85.52, they said. In first Asian trade dollar rose in choppy trade marred by thin liquidity, hitting a five-week high against Japanese yen, as US bond yields soared.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: Indian rupee was available at Rs 44.80 versus dollar, Malaysian ringgit was trading at 3.1220 in terms of the greenback and Chinese yuan was at 6.637 in relation to the US currency.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee shed five paisa in relation to dollar for buying at 85.10 while it was unchanged at 85.25, they said. The rupee, however, fell versus euro, losing 54 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 115.05 and Rs 115.55, they added.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee gained 25 paisa on buying side and remained unchanged on selling side against dollar at Lahore currency market on Monday.
According to dealers, the dollar resumed trading at Rs 85.25 and Rs 85.50 as buying and selling rates, and closed at Rs 85.00 and Rs 85.50 on buying and selling counters, respectively.
Similarly, the rupee appreciated by 50 paisa and 20 paisa against the pound sterling on buying and selling counters, respectively. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 135.00 and Rs 136.50 as compared to last Friday closing of Rs 135.50 and Rs 136.30, respectively, dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.
The dollar resumed trading at Rs 85.40 (buying) and Rs 85.50 (selling) against last rate of Rs 86.20 (buying) and Rs 86.30 (selling). It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.40 (buying) and Rs 85.50 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 136 (buying) and Rs 136.20 (selling) in the morning session. It did not observe further change in the last trading hours and closed at Rs 136 (buying) and Rs 136.20 (selling).
