Lahore High Court here on Monday reserved its decision in a petition requesting to declare Aimal Kansi national hero, lodge proceedings against Nawaz Sharif and direct him to pay sterling pounds 78,60,000 because during his regime, Kansi was extradited to USA where he was executed.
A local citizen Pir Ally Immrawn Saher Essraphel stated that Kansi was an innocent man who had not murdered any CIA agent but on mere allegation, he was extradited to US where he was tried and executed.
The counsel further submitted that from 1998 to 2003, he had been continuously visiting courts to protect innocent Kansi but on a phone call of the US foreign minister, the then prime minister in 1998 ordered to hand over Kansi to US government. He termed Kansi's conviction a brutal act. He requested to declare Kansi as illegally removed from his motherland, order excavation of his body from grave, after federation proffering apology and states should be ordered to accord Kansi a state funeral.
Essraphel also said Nawaz Sharif should be ordered to pay sterling pounds 78,60,000 as during his government, Kansi was handed over to US forces. From this money, a modern art museum, a free hospital and a Bua-Simon Free University of Human Rights be constructed and run in Quetta whereby no fee will be charged.
The counsel further requested to the court to get proceedings initiated against Nawaz Sharif and other responsible for criminal misconduct of handing over Kansi to US government.
