Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police, Sultan Ali Khawaja informed businessmen that 8-feet high police watch towers will be established in Site industrial area to keep vigil on criminals to apprehend them. Addressing members of Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) on Monday, he said that these towers will be established in collaboration of Site Association of Industry and police department at 12 different places.
He said each tower would have cops with arms and binocular to have visual contact with other towers and long distance view. He sought the assistance of PCDMA to establish vigilance cameras at 15 entry and exit points of Site industrial area. The DIG suggested establishment of PCDMA and police liaison committee having three members of PCDMA to keep constant contact with.
Sultan Ali Khawaja noted that 11 criminal gangs have been busted after his position in the area around three months ago. To a question, he said that the recovered snatched vehicles can be returned to its owner within three hours provided he would produce the vehicle in the court as and when was asked to do so.
Chairman, PCDMA, Haroon Agar informed the DIG that delivery of chemical and dyes from th warehouses situated in Site industrial area has been affected due to increasing cases of snatching vehicles loaded with goods on gun point. He said snatched vehicles are usually recovered after reporting the case to police but their delivery to the owner took around eight to nine months and some time years. He announced that the association will provide assistance in installing vigilance cameras in Site industrial area and asked for its feasibility report.
