US Consul General in Lahore Carmella Conroy met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Monday and discussed matters of mutual interest as well as relief and rehabilitation of flood-affected people. According to an official, the Chief Minister informed the US Consul General about the steps taken for the relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people and said that model villages are being constructed with the help of philanthropists and welfare organisations.
He also said the donations to his flood relief fund are also being spent on the construction of model villages. "Quilts, blankets and warm clothes are being distributed among the affected-people to protect them from cold in winter season," he added. US Consul General Carmella Conroy also discussed with the Chief Minister the proposed fund raising programme for the flood-affected people.
