The Jamaat-e-Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, while greeting the nation on Eidul Azha, has urged the well-to-do to share their Eid pleasures with the deprived millions around them. In his Eid message, Syed Munawar Hasan said the Eidul Azha reminded us of the supreme sacrifice rendered by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) by slaughtering his beloved son Ismail in the way of Allah.
However, Allah Almighty saved Ismail (AS). He said the Eidul Azha this year was being celebrated at a time when over 20 million people in the country had been made homeless by the flood. At the same time, he said, the price hike caused by the rulers had broken the back of the middle class as well.
Therefore, the well-to-do must take care of their less fortunate brethren around them in the true Islamic spirit. The JI Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch, said the message of Eidul Azha, in fact, was that of accepting Allah's sovereignty and placing oneself under His slavery by freeing oneself from all other bonds.
He said the gathering of millions of Muslims from all over the world for Hajj and their slaughtering of animals showed that the Muslim Ummah followed Ibrahim's Sunnah and faithfully adhered to the dictates of the Qura'an and the Sunnah. If only the Muslim rulers accepted Allah's slavery, the Ummah could get rid of all its problems and worries.
Liaquat Baloch said that the sacrifices being made by the people of Kashmir, Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan would not go waste, the forces of Evil would ultimately be defeated and truth would triumph. He also appealed to the rulers to recover the missing people for the consolation of their dear ones who had been suffering on this count.
