Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hassan has urged the masses to fully participate in the sit-in planned by his party on December 5, 2010 in Islamabad to pressurise the government to control price hike, unemployment and recover missing persons.
Large-scale participation of the masses in this sit-in will help stopping the government from taking anti-masses steps, Munawar said while talking to media after offering Eid-ul-Azha prayers at Jamia Mansoora. JI chief said the over all situation of Pakistan is demanding a big sacrifice from its people. He said Pakistan should decide that they would not go to other nations with a begging bowl, instead, they would get ready to face the situation. International organisations want to establish their writ in the country and they exert pressure on the government to enhance electricity, gas and petroleum prices after extending loans, he said.
Hassan urged masses to get ready for a sacrifice and join Jamaat-e-Islami in its sit-in on December 5. He clarified his party would observe this protest peacefully and abide by all the laws. Participants would be demanding that government should ensure recovery of missing persons and withdraw recent hikes in the prices of different utilities, he added.
Commenting on the prices of utilities, he termed it a big injustice that the prices were raising day and night, whereby electricity has also registered two percent increase from November 1. A big gathering of masses in Islamabad would help put the government in the right direction, he vowed.
The JI chief termed taking loan from IMF tantamount to surrendering liberty. 'These institutions would be dictating their decision on economic and political affairs and they would also be making our budget', he said. He alleged that organisations, which extend loans to the country, are behind the increase in the prices of different utilities.
