After long wait, two Karachi cricketers - fast rising batsman Asad Shafiq and medium pacer Tanvir Ahmed are set to make their debut in the second Test against South Africa starting here on Saturday. 24-year-old Asad, who scored 1244 runs in 12 first class for Karachi last season and in the domestic first class season last year, would be replacing struggling Umer Akmal, who had scored just one half century in the last 17 innings.
While 31-year-old Kuwait-city born Tanvir Ahmed has also been outstanding with the ball taking 85 wickets last season, writes APP correspondent. "Asad and Tanvir are in reckoning for the match," hinted Pakistan Manager Intikhab Alam. Sami is tried horse and we may go for Tanvir Ahmed," he said.
