The festive winter season is here and apart from being cozy in jumpers, boots, sweaters and scarves, the most common problem this season is dry and dull skin. It is the time when your skin usually doesn’t cooperate with you due to lack of moisture.

But, you can avoid dry skin during the winter months at your home. People usually overlook things that are readily available in every kitchen.

Here is the list of top 10 home remedies to prevent dry skin.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is a best beauty tip for dry and itchy skin. It contains four major antioxidants which allow it to work as a cleanser, moisturizer, and protector of skin. Add few drops of olive oil to brown sugar. Rub the paste on dry skin. Leave it for 15 minutes and there after wash off with water.

Mix the lavender oil with the olive oil. Massage it into your skin, and wipe off the excess oil with a washcloth. Use it before going to bed.

Honey

Honey contains properties that benefit dry skin. Combine honey and cinnamon powder and apply on the face. Wash this off after 15 minutes. Use this once a week.

Yogurt

Yogurt comes from milk, and provides the dose of animal protein and several other nutrients like calcium, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B12, potassium and magnesium that you need. Apply fresh yogurt all over the body. Leave it for 10 minutes and wash off with water.

Castor Oil

Castor oil reduces stretch marks, sunburn, acne and dry skin. Apply a thick layer of castor oil all over the body before taking a bath. Leave it for 10 minutes and there after wash off with water.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil does wonders to replenish and lock in the natural moisture of the skin. Apply coconut oil on dry areas of your skin and leave it on. It will get absorbed by the skin. You can use it once or twice a day.

Banana

Due to high level of fats, Banana provide instant relieve from dry skin. Mash the banana using the back of a spoon. Stir in the coconut oil to make a smooth paste. Apply the face mask and keep it on for 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water.

Milk

Milk has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that greatly help get rid of dry and itchy skin. Also, the lactic acid in milk exfoliates dead skin cells and increases the skin’s ability to retain moisture.

Soak a washcloth in cold milk and put the cloth on your dry skin for five to seven minutes. Gently wash off the milk with another cloth soaked in lukewarm water. This is a natural moisturizer.

Chocolate

Chocolate exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and healing properties. It improves blood flow under the skin and maintains optimal skin health. Mix cocoa powder, honey and maize flour to form a smooth paste, apply it on skin and leave it for half an hour. Rinse with lukewarm water.

Cucumber

Cucumber contains the hydrating properties that moisturize the dry skin. Cut the cucumber into small pieces and blend them to get an almost smooth paste. Add yogurt or aloe vera gel and mix them together. Apply this on the face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse with plain water.

Papaya

Papaya contains anti-aging and moisturizing property. It help rejuvenate your skin, making it firmer and younger looking. Mash the papaya and banana. Add the honey and mix well. Apply this paste on your face and other dry areas on your body. Rinse with lukewarm water.
