The seismological network of Pakistan Meteorological Department Sunday recorded an earthquake measuring 1.8 on Richter scale off the coast near Korangi area of Karachi. A seismologist at Karachi Meteorological Department told APP that the earthquake originated at 13.43 hours and was felt in Korangi.
The seismic activity was recorded at the depth of 30 kilometres with latitude of 22.63 north and longitude of 67.33 in the east, according to a statement of the department. "It (quake) was also felt also in the neighbourhood of fishermen in Ibrahim Haideri area," he said.
This is the second seismological activity in the area within a week. Met office had recorded earthquake measuring 1.2 on Richter scale in the night between November 18 and 19.
