Public Complaint Centre (PCC) of the Sindh Home Department has failed to deliver as it still awaits masses aspiring to register their complaints for quick action, it is reliably learnt. The complaint centre, which has started routine working from November 3, 2010 has failed to grab the attention of common man. During the first 20 days of its inauguration, nearly 100 people visited the centre for getting their complaints registered.
The complaints centre was waiting for the complainants. During a brief visit of the complaint centre, which was constructed next to Sindh Home Minister's office, only one or two people were seen visiting the centre for registration of their complaints. Although the staff was present but there was no visitor in the centre.
When asked about the small number of visitors, the staff said the public was unaware about the creation of new centre. They expressed hope that the public would start rushing to the centre as soon as they get information about it. Describing other reasons for limited number of complainants, they said the centre was set up at an unfamiliar place and many people do not even know it. However, they said the officials in Sindh Home Department have started sending the complainants to the centre for legal remedies.
Sharfuddin Memon, Consultant, Home Department told Business Recorder that nearly 100 complaints have so far been registered with the centre. He said the complaint centre had performed actively during Eid-ul-Azha and immediately responded to public complaints such as forcible hide collection and skin and hide snatching.
The complaint centre also liaised with the town administrations for quick disposal of offal to maintain cleanliness, he said, adding that the centre also mobilised police in some troubled areas. Responding to a question, he said people were not aware of this new system for quick legal action. The department has decided to launch awareness campaign, he added. He said the department would also launch a UAN for easy access of general public to the complaint centre.
