The Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, Wazir Baig distributed cheques among displaced persons of Ataabad and Sarat here on Saturday. Addressing the gathering here, the acting Governor said that federal government had transferred the amount for the affected families, which would be distributed transparently with the help of the concerned authorities.
He said that the amount released by the government would be utilised for rehabilitation of the affected people. He was accompanied by Minister of Food and Agriculture Muhammad Jaffar. Wazir Baig said that the region holds great geo-strategic importance and the Government of Pakistan had contacted the Chinese government for launching development projects in the G-B areas. He said that the Chinese government had provided food and other items to the people of Gojal to mitigate their sufferings.
