Sindh National Front (SNF) on Saturday decided to launch mass contact movement across Sindh to mobilise public opinion against what it said the government incompetence and poor performances. This was decided in an emergency meeting of the SNF Central Executive Committee (CEC) held here with SNF Chief Mumtaz Ali Bhutto in the chair.
The meeting was attended by the party's central leaders Allah Wrayuo Soomro, Nawabzada Ameer Bakhsh Bhutto, Engineer Ayub Shar, M Anwar Gujjar, Syed Hasan Mohammad Shah Amroti, Dr Roshan Pechoho, Shamsheed Kehkashan and others. The meeting demanded that treason case should be registered against the incumbents for extending the warfare from mountains in the North to Southern parts of the country despite spending $50 billion in this foreign war.
Due to the flawed policies of the rulers, people are compelled to sell their children, it observed, adding that poor people have left with no option but to slit the throat of their children in the face of the skyrocketing price hike. The meeting discussed the situation of floods affected areas which is worsening due to the indifferent attitude of the rulers towards the sufferings of the victims.
The meeting also noted large-scale corruption and embezzlement in the distribution of Watan Cards and monthly relief amount under Benazir Income Support Programme. The party rejected the Reformed General Sales Tax (RGST), terming it an attempt to stab in the back of poor and hungry. There are 273 ministers and advisors in all provinces and 1164 MPAs, MNAs and Senators, which cost annually Rs 400 billion to the exchequer. If half of them are reduced, there will be no need to impose RGST, it added.
Sindh National Front said the government has lost the confidence of common man after failing to fulfil promises. Sindh National Front vehemently condemned the government attitude towards probe into the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. The party wants that murderers of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto should not go scot-free at any cost and must be taken to task.
