The London Stock Exchange (LSE) moot on "Pakistan Capital Market Forum" will showcase Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC).
LSE is organising the forum in conjunction with Nomura Dubai at LSE Headquarters on December 10, 2010. Earlier, it was scheduled for November 19, 2010, which was rescheduled to facilitate the companies for necessary preparation due to Eid holidays.
LSE has invited Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan, Federal Minister for Privatisation to deliver his keynote address at Pakistan Capital Markets and Privatisation Forum. The PC is endeavouring to turnaround the SoEs and to reduce the budget deficit. Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan will lead a high level delegation comprising on top management of Pakistani companies to open the moot and to deliver keynote address while 50 top market leaders of international business and investment groups have also confirmed their participation.
Senate Standing Committee on Privatisation (SSCOP) has already given unanimous support to the Privatisation Commission (PC) for its equity-linked activity (convertible bonds) in the global market to turnaround the State Owned Entities (SoEs) while PC Board had also given go ahead in this regard. The proposal was recently presented at the highest level before the president and the prime minister on November 22, 2010. Privatisation transactions via capital markets (22 of 167 transactions) have so far raised Rs 133 billion (29% of total privatisation proceeds amounting Rs 477 billion) and going forward in this direction.
According to PC, the event will showcase the opportunities available to international investors in the Pakistan economy and is designed to both showcase a number of Pakistan based listed and public companies and connect them with a wide range of senior representatives from the international buy-side investor and corporate advisor communities.-PR
