The 9th Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Symposium concluded in Lahore with a renewed pledge that all out efforts will be made to raise awareness about cancer among the people in the country. Around 800 delegates from United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Denmark, Saudi Arabia and leading hospitals of Pakistan participated in the three-day event.
During the moot, as many as 30 scientific sessions were conducted and over 100 lectures were delivered. During the moot, world-renowned experts shared their professional experience regarding new developments in the diagnosis of cancer and its treatment. The sessions were highly interactive and delegates appreciated the excellent quality of information and sharing of ideas.
During the last day, there were scientific sessions about head and neck cancer, urology, basic research, pathology and radiology and in addition, recognising the important role of oncology nursing for cancer patients, a nursing symposium was also organised.
The delegates were grateful to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) for providing them an opportunity to participate in such an informative and high quality symposium. The participants were of the view that this symposium had definitely provided them an opportunity to meet, network and learn from distinguished speakers and they were returning with enough information and ideas, which would enable them to provide better care to their patients.
