Assembly members from various districts met with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday and discussed ongoing development projects in their respective areas. The chief minister said that despite cuts in the provincial budget due to flood, the projects for the provision of basic amenities to the people would remain continued and shortage of resources would not become a hurdle.
He said that Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation of flood affected people and seeds and fertilisers are being provided to the farmers of flood-hit areas free of cost. He stressed upon the assembly members to maintain a close contact with the people and spare no effort for the solution of their problems.
An expatriate Pakistani doctor living in Britain, Dr Javed also met with Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and discussed setting up of a vocational centre for the women discharged from mental hospital. Dr Javed said that he wanted to set up a centre for 45 women who before returning to their homes from mental hospital could be imparted various skills so that they could earn their living without being burden on others.
The chief minister appreciated the spirit of Dr Javed and described the project a commendable effort for the service of humanity. He also assured full co-operation for the project. Prominent columnist Munoo Bhai, Secretary Health and In charge Mental Institute Lahore, Nusrat Habib Rana were also present on the occasion.
