Sindh Home Department has banned entry of 99 Ulema in the province during Muharram-ul-Harram. According to an announcement by the department on Saturday, among these Ulema, 49 belong to the province of Punjab, 42 to Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa and eight are from Balochistan.
In addition, the Home Department has restricted movement of at-least 19 Ulema of the province to other provinces. These include five from East Zone, two from West Zone, two from South Zone, one from Hyderabad region, and nine of Sukkur region. The department also imposed ban on wall chalking, distribution of pamphlets and banners for next 30 days. Besides, it has banned pillion riding and display of weapons in the province till 12th of Muharram-ul-Haram.
Sindh Home Minister, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza has directed the police to strictly implement order to restrain movement of the listed Ulema during Muharram. He also directed police high-ups to make elaborate arrangements for peace during the month and provide full protection to the people on the occasion. Moreover, he sought full co-operation from the Ulema to ensure peace during the month.
