Sindh University (SU) has conferred 755 Bachelors, Masters, M.Phil and Ph.D degrees while 99 male and female candidates received gold and silver medals in academic convocation-2009 held here on Sunday at Allama I.I.Kazi Campus Jamshoro.
The acting Governor Sindh and acting Chancellor of the University Nisar Ahmed Khuhro presided over the convocation and conferred upon degrees the candidates and decorated with gold medals to meritorious students and special gold to candidates on their outstanding educational performance.
The convocation was attended by large number recipients along with their parents and also educationists, scholars, Vice-Chancellors of public and private sector universities and academia. Five candidates received the special gold medals on their outstanding performance while 11 scholars received Ph.D and 2 M.Phil degrees in different disciplines.
The acting Governor Sindh and acting Chancellor of the University of Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khuhro distributed Ph.D and M.Phil degrees among the candidates and decorated candidates with gold medals and special gold medals. While the Vice-Chancellor University of Sindh Dr Nazir A Mughal distributed Bachelors and Masters degrees among all recipients and decorated candidates with silver medals.
Speaking on this occasion Khuhro lauded efforts of the Sindh University and said that proud graduates of the Sindh University are a proud for the province of Sindh. He further said that this University has faced many difficulties but it has witnessed development with continuous struggle in higher education. He said that today students of the University and parents of students feel proud on their Alma matter which is highly encouraging.
He said that today world is known with name of competition and only skilled and competitor candidates would be able to survive in the world of competition. He appreciated students on their achievements in education and on receiving of medals and said that they are now entering in practical life and they would be administrators, educationists and scientists of the future.
He said that today world including our country is facing different problems of energy crisis, shortage of food and urged upon the scientists to come forward with resolution of these problems. He said that we must benefit from natural resources available in Pakistan and educationists and scientists should work on it especially young graduates dedicate their efforts to overcome on crisis. He said that we are yet to exploit the Thar coal and pointed out that Muhtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had invited to investors but after her government all work was stopped.
