Following the successful completion of rescue and relief operations in flood affected areas, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Sunday launched a project to construct 600 housing units for the shjelterless flood victims. The groundbreaking ceremonies of the project were held simultaneously in all provinces under Regional Air Commands.
The main ground breaking ceremony of the project was held at village Sohrab Khel of District Mianwali in which Air Officer Commanding Northern Air Commands, Air Vice Marshal Mohammad Arif was the chief guest. DCO Mianwali Tariq Mehmood and Base Commander Mianwali Air Commodore Nadeem Shervani were also present on the occasion.
The plan is being launched under the directives of Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman. Under the project, PAF would construct free of cost houses for the flood affectees from its own Flood Relief Fund. Around 600 houses would be constructed in Mianwali, Jaccobabad, Dera Allah Yar, Charsadda and Risalpur within the period of four months.
The chief guest also distributed warm clothes and edible items among the affectees. After the ceremony, he took round of the affected area and talked to the flood victims. The affectees appreciated the initiative of PAF officials for their rehabilitation. Impressed by the relief activities, the locals appreciated and described them ('Angels') who came down from skies to help the suffering humanity.
