Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Khawaja Muhammad Sharif will retire on Wednesday (today) on attaining age of superannuation. Full court reference will be held in his honour today in which all the judges of the LHC will participate. Later, a farewell ceremony will also be organised. Justice Sharif served as Chief Justice for a period of one and a half years.
Under constitution a judge of LHC retires at the age of 62. Justice Sharif was elevated to LHC in May 1998 and was made Chief Justice on April 14 2010 after restoration of sacked judges including him. New Chief Justice, Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry will take oath of the office on December 8 at governor house. Governor Punjab Salman Taseer would administer oath to him. Lahore High Court Bar Association hosted a farewell tea party in the honour of Lahore High Court outgoing chief justice Kh Muhammad Sharif on Tuesday.
