National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) North Zone (N-5) has made special arrangement to meet the foggy season challenge, said Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North NH&MP Abbas Hussain Malick. He said that N-5 has made a comprehensive plan to meet the foggy season challenge, which includes awareness campaign, special briefing session, Mobile Education Unit, special control room and patrolling.
The DIG said that the foggy season has started and North Zone GT road always affected by thick fogs particularly Kamra, Jehlam and Gujranwala sectors. He said that special briefings sessions have been started on all the toll plazas of GT Road from Peshawar to Lahore by the Mobile Education Unit to inform the pedestrian to avoid crossing during thick and dense fog. The unit visited to all bus terminals in Rawalpindi and Islamabad to educate the drivers regarding how to deal with the fog.
Emergency numbers of the offices of motorway police including office numbers have been provided to the transport association to seek help from NH&MP. Special control room has been established in DIG Motorway police office Rawalpindi, SSPs' offices of karma, Jhelam, Gujranwala and Murree expressway for close liaison with media and meteorological department so that prompt information regarding dense fog may be provided to road users through media. He said that NH&MP Help Line 130 may be used to ask for help.-PR
