A full bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) here Friday dismissed scores of petitions filed by parliamentarians calling in question legality of local commissions appointed by Election Tribunals for recording statements of the parties in eligibility matters.
In its short order the bench held that the local commissions were constituted to assist the election tribunals and they are working within their jurisdiction and limits being answerable to the election tribunals. The bench dismissing the petitions observed that the evidence and statements will be recorded like before by the local commissions which were appointed for the purpose of assisting the LHC tribunals in election matters. The bench remarked that the local commissions are lawful and the election tribunal have powers to appointed and thus declared the petitions against the same as without merit.
