President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday said that the PPP led government while pursuing the policy of reconciliation will face all the challenges with fortitude and continue forward march on the path of progress and prosperity besides ensuring socio-economic and political stability in the country.
The Party would continue to pursue the socio-economic reforms agenda to accomplish the promises made to the people during elections on one hand and give an economically stable, prosperous and peaceful Pakistan to our coming generations. The President said this while addressing a meeting of PPP MPAs from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday. Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Amir Hyder Khan Hoti was also present.
Briefing the journalists about the meeting, the Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said that the meeting discussed in depth the progress made by the government, the current political situation in the country, measures for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the flood affectees in KPK, fight against militancy and the President's recent visit to Turkmenistan.
The President said that the government is busy and determined to undertake vigorous steps to tackle the task of rehabilitation and reconstruction of the flood victims besides creating economic opportunities, employment generation, poverty alleviation and socio- economic and political empowerment of the women of the country. The President said that despite challenges and hurdles in its way the Government had waded through difficulties successfully and achieved significant achievements on political and economic fronts as well as on the fronts of fight against militancy.
The President while commenting on the fight against militancy eulogised the huge sacrifices rendered by the people of Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa and FATA in the ongoing campaign against militancy and extremism and said that the fight would continue till the complete eradication of this menace from the region.
