The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has urged the government to take note of poor policing and wanton use of violence by police against the protesting students and teachers. The commission, in a statement issued here on Monday, lamented that despite notice taken by high court in this regard, the executive is not taking any action on the use of force against the protesters.
It further stated that HRCP condemns unwarranted merciless baton-charge on the students and teachers, regardless of the merit of their demands. The commission also urged the government to overlook infractions, which could send wrong signals to the police and encourage similar abuse of people's right in the future.
