A high-level Sri Lankan Coast Guard delegation headed by its Director General, Rear Admiral L.D. Dharamprya, visited Headquarters Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (MSA) on Monday. An MSA statement said the dignitary was received by Rear Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Director General of Maritime Security Agency.
On arrival the visiting Sri Lankan Coast Guard Director General was presented a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned out contingent of the MSA personnel. A meeting was held to discuss various issues of mutual interest in order to enhance bilateral relations.
During the meeting wide ranging issues regarding capacity building and co-operation in measures against smuggling of contraband items and human trafficking were discussed. Matters related to sharing of intelligence at operational level with particular focus on counter narcotics and counter terrorism in the maritime domain also came under discussion. Information was also exchanged on how to cooperate and co-ordinate in search and rescue and anti-pollution response at sea.
