Allied Bank has been ranked fourth in the category of volume of donations made during the year 2009 among all Public Listed Companies (PLCs) of the Country, according to the "Survey of Public Listed Companies 2009" conducted by Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP).
Khalid A. Sherwani, CEO, Allied Bank received the "PCP Corporate Philanthropy Award" from Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Planning and Development at an awards distribution ceremony held here recently. The Bank also secured 7th position among all PLCs in the same category for the year 2008. Pursuing its philanthropy agenda, PCP introduced the Corporate Philanthropy Awards to acknowledge the contributions of the corporate sector.
Based on annual ranking, top giving companies out of the 650 PLCs are awarded for (i) volume of donations, and (ii) volume of donations as a percentage of profit before tax. This year, top 25 PLCs each were assigned ranks in terms of volume of donations and donations as percentage of profit before tax given away during the year 2009. Allied Bank secured 4th position.-PR
