Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik paid a surprise visit to Koral Police Station in the Federal Capital and checked the record, management and situation of the lock up in the police station. The Minister said corruption would not be tolerated in any department and the government would root out this menace once for all.
"We are making all out efforts to clean all departments from corruption and zero tolerance would be resorted to in case of corruption", he added. Malik appreciated the officials of Koral Police who arrested former Station House Officer Abdul Razaq for taking bribe misusing the authority.
The Minister announced a cash award of Rs 100, 000 for the welfare of officials working at the Koral Police Station and also gave Commendation Certificates (CC-1) to Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sardar Babar Mumtaz and Station House Officer Sajjad Bukhari for well-maintenance of the record.
The Minister also announced appreciation letter to SP (Rural) Umer Hyat for his good supervision. He also lauded the performance of Civil Defence officials performing security duties on the eve of Muharram ul Harram. He announced to allocate 10 per cent quota of capable Civil Defence personnel for recruitment in police. The minister said that policing is service-oriented job and it is good that Islamabad police performing well. He directed the police officials to ensure foolproof security on Muharram ul Harram, along with provision of complete safety to the citizens redressing their complaints.
