CID Police Islamabad Wednesday arrested the person who had made threatening calls to Ministry of Interior, a spokesman of Islamabad Police said. The man was held from Faisalabad and has been identified as Tahir Rasheed. Secretariat Police has registered a case against him under 25-D telegraph act.
The person made threatening calls on December 13, 2010 at official number of Ministry of Interior, saying that the building of the ministry would be exploded within few minutes. The personnel of law enforcement agencies rushed there and cleared the building after thorough checking.
Following the call, DIG (Operations) Bani Ameen constituted a special team comprising the police officials of CID Islamabad. The team under the supervision of DIG (Operations) and with the assistance of Faisalabad Police succeeded in arresting the caller from Faisalabad.
DIG (Operations) appreciated the performance of CID police team and said those elements who are involved in mischievous activities would have to face stern action. IGP Islamabad Kaleem Imam said that Islamabad police is competent enough to detect those who create chaos through hoax calls. He said that such elements would not be spared.
