Taiwan stocks rose 0.19 percent on Wednesday, as a surge in the local currency pushed up property developers for a second day but pushed down electronics exporters on concerns of forex losses. Kingdom Construction, a major real estate firm in northern Taiwan, jumped 3.35 percent, sending the construction sub-index up 1.1 percent as investors bet the Taiwan dollar's gains will boost property values.
Electronics shares slipped 0.34 percent. PC vendor Acer erased earlier gains to finish 0.5 percent lower. Acer chairman told the Reuters China Investment Summit that China operations will account for over 20 percent of Acer's total sales in five years. The main TAIEX share index ended up 16.28 points at 8,756.71. Plastics shares were the top winners, rising 2.32 percent. Another bright spot was TSMC, climbing 1.45 percent.
