'Yaum-e-Ashur,' the 10th day of Muharram is being observed throughout the country and Azad Kashmir on Friday (today) with reverence and solemnity amid stringent security measures adopted by the Law-Enforcing Agencies. The day is observed to commemorate the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (Razi Allah Taala Anho), the grandson of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) to uphold the banner of truth, justice and righteousness.
The tragedy of Karbla symbolises resistance to forces of tyranny and upholding the cause of justice in most trying times. The security have been put on high alert and security personnel have been deployed along all the routes of the processions and venues of Majaalis in different parts of the country to plug chances of any untoward incident.
The provincial governments have adopted unprecedented measures and cameras are installed. Control rooms have been set up for monitoring the security arrangements while staff and para medical staffs in hospitals are on duty. Mobile medical units and ambulances would provide first aid during the Zuljinnah processions.
Alam and Zuljinaah processions will be taken out across the country in which Ulema and Zakireen will highlight the spirit and teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (Razi Allah Taala Anho) and the need for forging unity to meet the present day challengers. In Lahore, the main Zuljinnah procession is being taken out from Nisar Haveli, inside Mochi Gate. It will terminate at Karbala Gamey Shah on Friday after passing through its traditional routes. Tazia, Alam and Zuljinah processions to be taken out from various localities of the metropolis will join the main procession.
The city police has made elaborate security arrangements to check any sort of untoward incident during Majalis-e-Aza, 'Alam' and 'Tazia' processions. All shops, hotels and houses located on traditional routes of the procession have been sealed to ensure safe passage of the procession.
Political leaders including PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussein, PML-F Secretary General Sheikh Anwer Saeed and others in their messages on the occasion of Yaum-e-Ashur, said that the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) inspires us to be ready to make any sacrifice for upholding the lofty human values. "On this occasion, we must renew our determination to act upon the principles of Islam."
