Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday asked the government to restrain US Ambassador to Pakistan from interfering in the internal affairs of the country. Speaking during the National Assembly's session Nisar said that nobody would be allowed to interfere in the internal affairs of Pakistan.
He said that US Ambassador had given a statement with the impression that the General Sales Tax (GST) Bill, 2010 should be approved and the American Admiral said Pakistan should launch military operation in North Waziristan. He said the US Ambassador should be restrained from interfering in the internal affairs of Pakistan.
"Will the US Ambassador decide the fate of GST Bill or it is the prerogative of this House. I have differences as far as policy of the government is concerned," he added. Expressing serious concern over the statements US Ambassador and Admiral, the Opposition Leader said that Foreign Minister should take notice of these statements. The government should take up the issue with US government, he said.
Nisar said, "the country cannot progress if the agencies are not brought within the fold of the constitution and the law. It is both opposition and government duty to make the agencies follow the constitution and the law." About the GST Bill, the Opposition leader said that the government has not been able to remove the reservations of the Opposition and its coalition partners.
He said that the government is presenting the bills in the darkness of night for legislation, bulldozing the opposition. He accused the government of not implementing the decisions of House Business Advisory Committee. "The government should change its attitude about the legislation and do not force the opposition to do what had happened in the Parliaments of India, North Korea and Taiwan," he said.
About Hajj corruption, he said that the government should brief the House on this issue. He said that not only Apex Court took notice of Hajj corruption even a foreigner prince had written a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan in this regard.
