Federal Women Development Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has underscored the need of collective efforts all sections of the society for the stability and strengthening the democratic institutions in the country.
The Minister further said that unity at this critical juncture was direly needed when Pakistan was struggling to overcome economic constrains and weeding out the menace terrorism adding that all political parties and individuals should play a constructive role in this regard.
She said that collective effort of all political parties and individuals would not only help in strengthening democracy but also steer the country out of crisis. PPP led government not believes in healthy and confrontation-free politics she said.
Talking to media on Monday evening at village Kuba Chak she said that PPP believes in democracy and leadership had paid a heavy price for the revival of democracy and consequently Benazir Bhutto embrace Shahadat just for the cause of democracy. The ultimate goal of democracy is to ensure self-respect and fundamental rights of individual besides economic and social development of the community she said. Dr Firdous further stated that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was symbol of democracy and PPP will continue its struggle for converting the country into a true and democratic state.
The PPP led government was working on lines and political vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for bringing radical changes in every sphere of life and to ensure social justice to the masses she said. Dr Firdous further said that rapid increase in population was posing serious threats to overall development process and generating several social problems in the country.
It is high time to control the growth rate of population for achieving ultimate goals of the development she said. The Minister stressed upon the married couples to that they should concentrate on small size families and ample interval in birth for the larger national interest. Firdous said the government was striving hard to accomplish Shaheed Benazir' Bhutto's aimed at bringing women folk into mainstream adding that dream of national development could not be materialised without the involvement of women in the development process of the country.
