Chairman Sindh National Front and former Sindh Chief Minister, Mumtaz Ali Bhutto in a meeting with PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif at latter's Raiwind residence on Monday agreed on formation of new alliance on new social contract. Expressing grave concern over country's present situation, he said change was inevitable in present circumstances. He added that the country's problems could not be resolved on 'Dining table of reconciliation.'
During the meeting, country's current political and economic situation came under discussion and both the leaders agreed to wage a just struggle based on principles to steer the country out of current crisis, sources said. Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Syed Ghous Ali Shah, Iqbal Zafar Jhaggra, Saleem Zia, Imdad Chandio, Khawaja Mohammad Asif, Ghous Bux Mehr and Hamza Shahbaz were also present.
After the meeting, Mumtaz told reporters that during his meeting with Nawaz matters pertaining to formation of new social contract were discussed and after finalising salient features of social contract, political parties of Sindh would be formally invited to join the proposed alliance. He said, "We can move forward for new alliance, however, the goal cannot be achieved in a single meeting. In politics, alliances are made based on a programme and ideology."
About assassination of Benazir Bhutto, Mumtaz said no practical step was taken during the last three years to arrest the killers of Benazir Bhutto. "The inquiry regarding assassination of Benazir Bhutto must be started from those who got benefit after her murder," he said. He strongly criticised the Sindh government and said every type of ills prevailed there and corruption was rampant. He further criticised the PPP government and said they were not capable to run the government affairs and resolve issues.
PML-N senior leader Raja Zafarul Haq said all the political parties were being contacted to steer the country out of prevailing crisis. Syed Ghous Ali Shah said that people having common approach must be united for the resolution of problems posed to the country and the masses.
