Japan Cultural Centre (JCC) of the Consulate-General of Japan, Karachi, holds various Japanese cultural event such as Japanese Calendar Exhibition, Haiku Mushaira and Ikebana Demonstrations in collaboration with Japanese related organisations, for example Pakistan Japan Cultural Association, Sindh (PJCA), Ikebana International Karachi Chapter 204, Ikenobo Ikebana Study Group, Ohara Ikebana Study Group, Sogetsu Ikebana Study Group, Pakistan Bonsai Society and so on.
In addition to self organised events, JCC has a lot of Japanese cultural goods, and supports cultural awareness events of local schools by providing these items.
Japanese Language: Studying the native language is the first step to understand that particular country. Japan Cultural Centre, the Consulate-General of Japan, Karachi, supports PJCA Japanese Language Course, which has 3 classes (Step I, Step II and Step III) and its term & timing are 6 months/ 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 18:00 ~ 20:00).
The origin of PJCA Japanese Language Course was the Japanese Language Course established by the Consulate-General of Japan in 1972, and the number of graduated students is more than 5,000. These students are regarded as friendly and respected in Japan and in Karachi as well. Recently, one graduated student was hired by the Consulate General of Japan in appreciation of his Japanese Language skills.
