Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) on Friday resigned as chief whip of the government in the Senate after the party parted ways with the federal government. Haidri, who was appointed as chief whip of the ruling coalition in the Senate two years ago, talking to Courier Newconformed his resignation as chief whip of the government in the Upper House of the Parliament.
Quitting the ruling coalition in the Centre on December 14 in the wake of removal of the party's Minister for Science and Technology Azam Swati, the party Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman had made it clear that the chief whip of the government in Senate who belonged to his party would also tender resignation. Besides Haidri, two JUI-F ministers in the Cabinet - Rahmatullah Kakar, Minister for Housing and Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman, Minister for Tourism, have already submitted their resignations to the Prime Minister.
