The Assemblies of God Church (AOGC) distributed Christmas package among the poor and deserving Christian community. The ceremony was held in connection with Christmas celebrations here on Friday at residence of former member of district assembly, Gulistan Bhatti.
Member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Asif Bhatti was chief guest on the occasion. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Sports, Culture and Tourism, Syed Aqil Shah was also present on the occasion. On this occasion, Christmas package has been distributed among poor and deserving Christians. The package, comprising on rice, quilts, blankets and bed sheet.
Besides, chairman AGOC, Rev. A R Hashmat, Pastor Rev. Zeeshan a large number of Christians attended the ceremony. Pastor Rev. A R Hashmat and Rev. Zeeshan Bashir offered prayers for integrity, solidarity and maintenance of peace in the country. Addressing the ceremony, member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Asif Bhatti said that all religious preaches tolerance, peace and tranquility and called for interfaith harmony in the prevailing situation.
He said the government believes religious freedom and had taken prompt measures for protection of Churches and religious places in the province. He highlighted the significance of the Christmas Day and said that the day preaches affection, tolerance and religious harmony.
A R Hashmat said that the Church body would continue its support for the Christians and Muslims community. He explained that the AOGC had extended support to people belongs different religion, including Muslim community as affected by recent flash floods. About the Christmas, he said that the significance of the day is vital, which gives message of peace, love, harmony and brotherhood.
Speaking on the occasion Provincial Minster for Sports, Culture and Tourism, Syed Aqil Shah, also said that the government believes on religious freedom and nurture environment of brotherhood amongst all religion and sects. Later, Member of Provincial Assembly, Asif Bhatti and Minister for Sport, Syed Aqil Shah distributed Christmas package among Christian community.
