Argentina's soya closing prices and trends on Thursday: In the main grains market of Rosario, soya prices closed up for a fourth day at between 1,385 and 1,420 pesos ($339-$348) per tonne, a new record in local currency terms, tracking gains in the Chicago market, traders said.
Soya closed at 1,397 pesos per tonne on Wednesday, according to the official reference price. Trade volume in Rosario was light at 10,000 tonnes, unchanged from the previous session. US soya futures to a 27-month peak on Thursday as hot, dry weather in key producer Argentina and stronger-than-anticipated US processor demand propelled the market higher for a fifth consecutive session.
Soya for delivery in May 2011, which is quoted in US dollars, rose to $335 from between $330 and $333 per tonne in the previous session. Argentine soya-crushing workers ended a two-day strike in the key Rosario ports area on Thursday, allowing halted plants to restart operations.
