Argentina's soya closing prices and trends on Monday. In the main grains market of Rosario, soya prices closed up for a fifth consecutive session at between 1,420 and 1,460 pesos ($347-$357) per tonne, shadowing gains at the influential Chicago market, traders said. It was the last in a string of record-highs in local currency terms.
Soya closed at 1,404 pesos per tonne on Thursday, the last trading session last week as the market was closed on Friday for a holiday in the South American country. Trade volume in Rosario rose to 15,000 tonnes, from 10,000 tonnes the previous session. US soya futures surged more than 1 percent on Monday to rally for a sixth straight session as hot, dry weather stoked fears over crop prospects in Argentina, the world's third-largest exporter of the oilseed. Soya for delivery in May 2011, which is quoted in US dollars, gained $10 to close at $345. In the southern ports of Quequen and Bahia Blanca soyabeans closed at 1,300 pesos per tonne and at 1,320 pesos per tonne respectively.
