Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology (FIC) is extending state-of-the-art treatment facilities to the heart patients, Project Director FIC, Dr Riaz Ahmad said adding that the angiography machine, emergency ICU, blood bank, modular operation theaters, Gama cameras, digital X-ray and latest ultrasound machine facilities were introduced also at the FIC in 2010.
Two latest modular operation theatres at a cost of Rs 45 million have been completed whereas a new angiography machine worth Rs 70.5 million and a Gama camera at a cost of Rs 30 million have been installed at the FIC. A new laundry was also established at a cost of Rs 40 million at the institute, he added.
Dr Ahmad said that FIC has been made fully functional within a short span of time and it will be made state-of-the-art institute for the patients of cardio vascular diseases. He said that daily about 1000 patients visit OPD at FIC and they were provided diagnostic and treatment facilities free of cost alongwith three weeks free medicines, whereas 150 patients were being treated at the emergency department of the institute.
