Combined Engineering and Integrated Solutions (CEIS) has handed over 49 houses, constructed with the cost of Rs 6 million, to the flood affected homeless families in Isakhel district of Mianwali, to mitigate their sufferings in the severe winter, said Tassaduq Malik, CEO CEIS here on Friday.
The houses have been constructed at one of the worst hit villages at Sharifabad in Isakhel, located along the Kunhar river and have been provided to the widows and the elderly on priority, he said while talking to reporters on Friday. The Combined Engineering and Integrated Solutions (CEIS), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Australian company Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC) initially planned to construct around 25 shelters.
However, with the efforts of project team, donations in the form of cash and kind, from colleagues, friends and support of locals; expanded the programme and completed 49 such units, Tassaduq Malik said. "We would never forget what you have done for us and our families," said Abdul Ghafoor, one of the recipients of the shelter houses.
The locals appreciated the CEIS team for setting up an example for others by 'sticking to merit' and for utilising the donations for building homes for the "real deserving" Tassadaq Malik, said the enormity of the catastrophe by the flooding was unimaginable and it was really hard to choose the most deserving.
Priority was given to widows and elderly who did not have any caretaker and list was made with the help of some trusted local personnel and one to one interaction with the affected people. A local notable Jamal Khan thanked the CEIS, and their parent company SMEC, their employees, and other friends for the donations and completion of about shelter homes for the poor and destitute of the area.
SMEC is one of the world's leading engineering and development consultancies. SMEC has been operating in Pakistan since early 1990's and has strong presence in all over the country working with the different industry sectors. CEIS under SMEC expands its business in Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM), The CEIS Pvt Ltd, the SMEC International of Australia earlier also disbursed cash of PKR 700,000 to the flood affected in Charsadda.
