Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zahiruddin made a token walkout of one-minute from Punjab Assembly's 22nd session on Friday opposing amendment in blasphemy law in the country.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal along with Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on the occasion stated that the entire assembly was united on this subject, where there was no margin on the subject of blasphemy, they however, pointed out that any misuse of the law would be strictly checked and assured the minority legislators in this connection on the occasion.
A female MPA in a motion in the session strongly criticised cleanliness and other conditions in the Jinnah Hospital Lahore demanding that conditions need to improve there. Punjab Assembly Speaker and the Law Minister Punjab assured the legislator of action on that if a written complaint is presented to them.
Punjab Law Minister also replying to a motion stated to brief the Assembly on depilated condition of 350 roads in the city. He told the Speaker to inform the House in detail on these conditions in few days.
Earlier, in the Assembly, the Secretary of the Assembly Malik Maqsood named four-member Panel of Chairman for the 22nd session of the Provincial Assembly. The members are Dr Asid Ashraf, Mian Yawar Zaman, Sardar Amanullah Dareshak and Syeda Bushra Nawaz Gardezi.
Parliamentary Secretary Transport speaking in the Assembly during query period, stated that no bus stands had been leased in Lahore Railway Station by the Government. He said that the Transport Department of Punjab Government had only allotted depots to bus transport companies for parking on franchised basis. Replying to another query he said Fort Monoro area consisted of 210-acres pointing Motel of TDCP existed in Anari Hills area. He said Anari Hills consisted of 4,051 acres.
He, to a query, stated that to improve transport problems in the City Lahore Transport Company has been formed. He said this company is a non-profit entity registered under Company Ordinance 1984 (Section 42). He disclosed that traffic wardens that had worked in the company had come on attachment, instead of deputation.
The parliamentary secretary stated that no development work was going on at Tourist Resort at Wagha, stating there was no such a resort there. A report by Standing Committee on Motor Vehicle Ordinance was presented in the House. Speaker adjourned the House for January 3, 2011(3:00pm) on account of lack of quorum.
