The rupee was down against dollar and euro on the currency market on Tuesday in process of trading, dealers said The rupee in relation to dollar shed two paisa at 85.70 for buying and was dropped by three paisa for selling at 85.75, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: It was the rising demand by importers which dragged the rupee down in terms of the US currency and it looks that the rupee may move both ways in the coming days, they added. In the second Asian session dollar edged broadly higher, with yen on the back-foot after upbeat US data suggested the world's biggest economy will accelerate in 2011. The Australian dollar came under pressure with traders citing worries about the massive floods in the country's northeast, which has severed roads and closed ports, curtailing production of coal, Australia's top export.
The euro eased slightly after last week's short-covering surge, with some traders citing talk of euro-selling by investors related to euro zone bond redemptions.
Malaysian ringgit was available at 3.0625 in relation to the greenback, Indian rupee was at 44.82 in terms of the US currency and Chinese yuan was tradng at 6.604 versus dollar.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee moved down in terms of dollar, losing five paisa for buying at 85.65 and came down by five paisa for selling at 85.80, they added. The rupee followed suit after shedding 55 paisa in relation to euro for buying and selling at Rs 114.00 and Rs 114.50, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee remained unchanged on buying side at Rs 85.50 and gained 5 paisa on selling side at Rs 85.75 in relation to dollar in Lahore kerb market on Tuesday.
According to dealers, the dollar was purchased and sold at Rs 85.50 and Rs 85.75 as compared to overnight rates of Rs 85.50 and Rs 85.80, respectively.
On the contrary, the pound was purchased and sold at Rs 133.00 and Rs 134.00 as compared to Monday's Rs 132.30 and Rs 133.00, respectively, dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.
The dollar resumed trading at Rs 85.55 (buying) and Rs 85.80 (selling) against the rate of Rs 86.20 (buying) and Rs 86.30 (selling). It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.55 (buying) and Rs 85.80 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 136.20 (buying) and Rs 136.70 (selling) in the morning session. It did not observe further change in the last trading hours and closed at Rs 136.20 (buying) and Rs 136.70 (selling).
