Two persons involved in sale of 'fake appointment letters' held

Among the 41 suspects rounded up for different crimes in Hyderabad since last week, District Police Officer claims to have arrested two persons involved in selling fake appointment letters for jobs in police department and Hesco.
"The pursuit for busting the racket selling the forged documents began after 3 persons with fake appointment letters on the posts of ASI were arrested from Qasimabad," District Police Officer Hyderabad Munir Ahmed Shaikh informed this Tuesday while addressing a press conference at Police Line Office. During the course of their investigation, the DPO said, they found that 31 such appointment letters for Metre Reader jobs in Hesco and 6 for ASI jobs in police were sold at around Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively.
The district police chief revealed that the police was also looking into a similar gang operating in the jurisdiction of PS Fort. About the other suspects apprehended during the week, the DPO informed that 10 among them had been identified by the victims while 6 others had admitted their involvement in as many as 36 incidents of robberies.
According to the DPO, street crimes were the biggest challenge for the district police at a time when about 70 percent reduction in complaints regarding extortion cases had been recorded and no kidnapping for ransom case had been reported. "Crimes of cash snatching specially from people drawing amounts from the banks are increasing," he said while alluding to a nexus between the insider informants and the snatchers.
In reply to another question regarding his commitment when he took charge of his post in July 2010 assuring to institute Karachi-patterned traffic regulation in Hyderabad, the DPO informed that recently a meeting was held under the chair of RPO Hyderabad Mushtaq Shah during which some decisions were taken for addressing the traffic woes.
"We have set certain targets for this year and implementation on the reforms plan will start within a week," he added. The district police chief informed that he would soon give a briefing to the media about the police performance during 2010 and the department's targets for year 2011. Earlier, he announced cash rewards of Rs 25,000 for the policemen who carried out the last week's arrests. On the occasion, weapons, bullets, cash, jewellery, watches, mobile phones and motorbikes recovered from the suspects were also displayed.
