National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Board on Wednesday approved four corruption references against different persons, which are to be filed in the accountability courts against the accused including FBR official in Rs 30 million fake tax returns scam.
In a special meeting of the NAB's Executive Board Meeting (EBM) headed by Chairman NAB, former Justice Deedar Hussain Shah, the NAB approved references against Gulraiz Ahmed Raza an FBR official along with some others FBR officials for the bogus sales tax refunds amounting to Rs 30 million. Another corruption reference the NAB Board approved was against Noor Jamal of Pak PWD for assets beyond legal means of income.
The NAB Board has also approved reference against Munshi Sheruddin Lashari former tapedar of Malir, Karachi for depriving Pak Ideal Housing Society by transferring 35 acres of land through bogus entries in revenue records and Muhammad Nadeem Khan for misappropriating Rs 26 million from ABL Quetta.
The meeting approved the holding of inquires against Mian Arshad for money laundering, Raza Zaheer Ali of Burewala for forcibly taking away their stocks from godowns pledged with Bank AI-Habib, against Naeem Farooqi former registrar of Balochistan University for misuse of funds and Mubeen Gul Khan President CBR Employees Co-operative Housing Society, Islamabad.
The meeting also decided that the concerned directors of different cases from various regions would make presentations in the forthcoming Board meeting so as to determine the future course of action on the cases. The Board decided to refer back a few cases for in-depth analysis and procurement of further evidences to take appropriate legal action against the accused.
Addressing the EBM, Chairman NAB, Deedar Shah said the corruption overwhelms the whole fabric of the society and it demands strong determination to deal it and give a corruption-free culture to people of the country. "Corruption is a serious menace to be dealt with strong determination to provide a corruption-free culture in the society," Shah said.
