Meteorological Department has forecast cold and dry weather over most parts of the country on Friday. However, dense foggy conditions are likely to continue over the plain areas of the Punjab, central and lower Khyber Pakhtoonkhawah and upper Sindh from midnight to midday.
It said no change is expected in this weather during the next two days. Lowest minimum temperature in Pakistan was recorded at Kalam (KP) - 11.4 C and maximum at Turbat, (Balochistan) 27 C on Thursday.
The severe cold weather in the upper and mountainous regions has dropped the river water flows to the minimum. River Indus was flowing with 17,700 cusecs water and river Jhelum with about 6,900 cusecs water at Tarbela and Mangla respectively on Thursday. Meanwhile, Indus River System Authority (Irsa) has reduced downstream water discharges of Tarbela dam from 20,000 cusecs to 15,000 cusecs resulting into 400 MW decrease in Tarbela hydel power generation units.
