Judges' job is not only disposing of cases, but to bring change in people's lives: CJP

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that job of the judges is not only disposing of cases rather it is the responsibility of the court to bring positive change in the lives of people, by giving them easy access to justice.
He was talking to newly appointed chief justice and judges of newly established Islamabad High Court (IHC), who called on him here on Thursday.
Justice Chaudhry congratulated the IHC CJ and its judges on assumption of office and assured every possible support and assistance for smooth functioning of the newly established court.
They discussed matters relating to full functioning of IHC, with special reference to transfer/institution of cases in the court and their timely disposal to enable the residents of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) to have easy access to justice and get resolution of their disputes and redressal of their grievances. The IHC enjoys original, appellate and revisional jurisdiction under the constitution and the law. The court consists of a chief justice and six other judges, but presently only two judges have been appointed.
The judges are appointed from the provinces and other territories of Pakistan including ICT and Fata. The IHC chief justice and judges thanked chief justice of Pakistan for sparing time and assurance to help facilitate in full functioning of IHC.
