After two days of bright sun shine, the increase of 5 to 6 degree celsius in maximum temperature has improved gas availability to domestic consumers during the day time. Rehan Nawaz General Manager Sales, SNGPL told Business Recorder here on Tuesday.
He said since people do not use gas heaters during the sun shine hours, the gas pressure has improved in the areas where consumers were facing outages or low gas pressure. He said SNGPL's shortfall between supply and demand of industrial, commercial, CNG and domestic sector remains 650 MMCFD, which is likely to fall by 230 MMCFD with the improvement of weather.
He said for the purpose of supplying gas to Industry on rotation basis SNGPL has divided Punjab Industrial sector in two zones, Lahore and Fasailabad. The company restored the gas supply to 280 industrial units of Lahore Zone comprising Lahore, Sheikhupura and Sahiwal on Monday evening, which requires 300 million cubic ft MMCF.
Gas will be supplied to Faisalabad Zone, which includes Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan and Bahawalpur divisions after completion of Lahore Zone's rotation, he added. Rehan said CNG stations would be opened on Wednesday at 6 am after two-day routine holiday.
Meanwhile after sun shine mercury has risen by 5 to 6 degrees celsius since Saturday in the plains of Punjab. Maximum temperature rose to 19.2 degree celsius in Lahore and 21.5 celsius in Islamabad on Tuesday midnoon giving a feel of warm weather after about two weeks of severe cold weather with foggy conditions. Maximum temperature in Bahawalpur was 21.9 C, Faisalabad 19 C, Joharabad 21.5, Jhelum 20. 0 C, Noor Pur Thal 23.6 C. Meanwhile meteorological department has forecast cold and dry weather over most parts of the country for Wednesday.
