The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) awarded eight-day physical remand of former City Police Officer (CPO), Rawalpindi Saud Aziz and former Superintendent of Police (SP), Rawal Town, Khurram Shahzad to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Benazir Bhutto's murder case.
The Special Judge, ATC-III, Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan Friday resumed the hearing of Benazir Bhutto assassination case. The two detainees were brought under tight security to the court from Central Jail Adiala. The Prosecutor of FIA Chaudhary Zulfiqar pleaded before the court to grant nine-day physical remand of the two officers of Punjab Police for further probe into the high-profile murder case.
He said that the FIA would have to produce mobile phones of both the police officers, which were in their use on 27 December 2007. He also pleaded before the court that the cellular phone of slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto is still missing, which will be very helpful in chasing the culprits behind the murder.
FIA Prosecutor also presented the copy of Lahore High Court's order in which the ATC was directed to review its verdict regarding not giving physical remand of Aziz and Shahzad to FIA. Special Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan after hearing the argument, handed over both the police officers to Assistant Director FIA, Asghar Jatoi on eight-day physical remand and directed him that both the officers should be presented before the court on the next date of hearing, which will be held on January 22.
