He said that the Police during the year 2010 nabbed around 982 terror suspects, masterminds behinds terrorism and foiled several suicide attempts.
The IACP yearly evaluates performance of police organisations all over the world after a thorough scrutiny. Outstanding police forces are nominated for subsequent conferment. A special committee of IACP will evaluate each application and select one winner each for the domestic and international award.
This success can be attributed to a number of effective strategies adopted by Islamabad Police in last two years, the spokesman said, adding that these include proactive policing, five rings of security all around the city, strong intelligence collection system, deployment of Anti-terrorism Teams, community policing and professional investigation methodologies.
The commitment and devotion by the personnel despite several constraints made them successful against the terrorists, he said.
